Even sushi has a festive feel if you decide to dine at Kampachi at Christmas. I enjoyed my softshell crab sushi and chawan mushi with duck consommé, with slices of roast duck atop it. All these and more were in an early festive preview of Christmas offerings at each restaurant in EQ Kuala Lumpur.
And who could resist raclette, melted and paired with pickled onions, cornichons and baby potato from Sabayon? The sabayon topped with crushed popcorn was amazing. It’s the Chalet all over again, at Christmas, with four to eight-course Festive Christmas dinner from Dec 1-30 and a four-course Sunday lunch a la Chalet with signature dishes like Duck Breast à l’Orange, Filet de Saumon Norvégien, Crêpes Suzette.
At Etoile it’s roast turkey, creamy pumpkin soup and other festive delights like cottage pie and roast duck. These could be ordered for takeaway, including US prime ribs, wagyu, lamb, roast duck and goose. We had a taste of the roast turkey with cranberry sauce and pickled red cabbage. The roast duck was good; the meat moist, pink and flavourful.
Nipah’s Christmas fare includes Lobster Thermidor, roasted lamb leg and wagyu beef hammer. The Festive Buffet Lunch is on daily from Dec 1 except December 25. The Festive BBQ Weekend Buffet Dinner will be from Thursday to Sunday except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
The caviar salmon terrine is not to be missed at the Bottega Lounge which offers chic sandwiches, raisin cranberry scones, smoked salmon tartare, and other Christmas treats in Festive Dolce Vita Afternoon Tea on Mondays through Saturdays. There is also a Festive Dolce Vita Afternoon Tea Buffet every Sunday.
The grand Christmas Tree is all lit up in the Lobby but the smaller Angel Tree is dedicated to a gifting programme. Tags bearing names and ages of children from Shelter Home are hung on the Angel Tree. Guests can choose and contribute to a gift for the child, to be delivered during an EQ Christmas party for these children.
