Soroptimists’ Simply Cook-Lah! for charity

Soroptimist International Shah Alam has published a cookbook, with recipes contributed by club members. Titled Simply Cook-Lah!, the easy-to follow recipes are well illustrated with drawings which tell you at a glance what’s needed before you cook. It’s a cookbook to raise funds for its charity projects.

The cookbook

Some of the dishes from the book were presented at its launch recently at Dapurku.

I am taking note of the recipes in the book for Bulgogi Congee, Sourdough Cucur Udang, Terung Lawa, Boiled Prawn Sambal, Chicken Stew with spices and coconut milk, Chicken Varuval and Lamb Royale. Also an Eight Treasure Tea which was served at the book launch

An easy to read recipe, in pictures

The drawings in the book were by Azlinza Hashim, a Soroptimist member as well as one of the partners of Dapurku where we had a delicious lunch before the launch.

An illustrated recipe from the book

Simply Cook-Lah is being sold at RM55 a copy, and RM50 each for 6 books and above. Proceeds from the book will go to club projects and community aid.

The books are available at Dapurku. You can DM @si_shahalam on Instagram or WhatsApp 016-2808908.

Mee Siam — flavourful

Vegetarian Laksa

At the lunch at Dapurku .we enjoyed its flavourful Mee Siam. There was Vegetarian Laksa with its creamy curry, heaped with fu chook, eggplant, tofu puffs and egg. It was livened up with a killer sambal

Now I’m all for its Fried Nasi Ulam, aromatic with herbs, and topped with a crispy fried chicken, salted egg and fish keropok.

A fruity Nyonya Salad

Dapurku’s Nyonya Salad of watermelon, pineapple and lettuce is brought together with a Nyonya dressing with cincalok in it. Wish there was ,ore cincalok though to balance out the sweetness of the fruits.

Dapurku is at VC-G-05 Jalan Setia Murni, U13/51, Setia Alam, Shah Alam. Contact: 011-3311-3305.
