Fifty years has flown by since Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur opened its doors on 27 December 1973 and established itself to be one of the leading hotels in the region. Now as EQ Kuala Lumpur, this milestone continues to be celebrated, with a limited edition time-piece by Seiko in a collaboration with Thong Sia Malaysia, the sole distributor of the renowned watch brand.

Only 50 pieces of the dress watch from Seiko’s Presage line in the same EQ colour palette were acquired to mark the 50th anniversary.

“Seiko is one of the most reputable names in the watch industry, and we are delighted to present an exclusive edition to commemorate our group’s golden anniversary,” said Donald Lim, CEO of the Hotel Equatorial Group.

It was no surprise that all the watches save two were snatched up by collectors before the actual launch of it recently at Blue, Sky 51 at EQ Kuala Lumpur.
In tandem with the timepiece unveiling and as part of Equatorial’s community commitment, a charity auction was held to raise funds with one of these iconic watches. The top bid of RM20,000 went to the Kasih Hospice Foundation.
