I’m always partial to the traditional baked mooncakes like EQ’s Traditional Cantonese Mixed Nuts, the Red Bean and the White Lotus with Single Egg Yolk. This year I was delighted with its Sun-dried Scallop and Mixed Nuts in snow skin, a taste and texture that’s hard to rival.

The Golden Charcoal Musang King Durian snow skin mooncakes had lots of fans when they were brought out during a tasting at EQ Hotel Kuala Lumpur recently, for the Mid Autumn Festival on September 17. Who could resist this dark-skin mooncake with gold etchings?

I also liked the Emerald Yuzu Pandan snow skin mooncake too. In EQ’s mooncake repertoire there are 6 snow skin varieties. Apart from those mentioned, there are the Mint Chocolate Hawaiian Macadamia, Butterfly Pea Flower Vitagen White Lotus.
The bakes ones list four varieties, including the EQ Signature Pearl of Harmony and the White Lotus. Of course there are the mini mooncakes in green tea and white lotus which the hotel first introduced in 2011.
